Capestrano, the pianist Jacopo Petrucci from L’Aquila closes the jazz festival “A love supreme”

CAPESTRANO (AQ) – Last appointment but certainly not least important is that of June 30th at 6.30pm in the Abbey of San Pietro ad Oratorium for the pianist’s concert Jacopo Petrucci dedicated to “Bach, Debussy, Ravel, and Jazz improvisations”, which concludes the varied 2024 edition of the jazz festival “A love supreme – Capestrano jazz encounters”.

“My program for the festival A Love Supreme he spoke of contaminations: that is, of how jazz allowed itself to be influenced by everything that preceded it and how it in turn left its ‘brand’ in the contemporary world. From Bach’s counterpoint to Ligeti’s rhythmic structures passing through the harmonies of Ravel and Debussy: a story of dialogue and contamination”, comments Jacopo Petrucci.

The festival, created and supported last year by Nicola Capriati And Maria Letizia Perticarini of the MusicArti association, sees the artistic direction of the saxophonist reconfirmed Dimitri Grechi Espinozais the enchanting location intended for the four free-entry concerts included in this year’s program, characterized by particular sound inflections and a compelling thrust of rhythm.

“Jacopo Petrucci is a young talent from the L’Aquila conservatory who we asked to offer us a journey through the songs of some 20th century authors who influenced jazz music and at the same time create ‘variations’ on the themes played”, continues Dimitri Grechi Espinoza.

“Our intention was to make the festival interact with the territory and enhance its history, and this is why we presented the project at the MAXXI in L’Aquila through a historical-archaeological excursus of the reference territory, curated by the archaeologist and paleethnologist Andrea Di Giovanni; just as all the posters produced by the students of the ABAQ Art Printing course were exhibited at the multidisciplinary art gallery La Dama in Capestrano with which the festival collaborates”, explains Nicola Capriati.

Finally, essential support for the success of the event was given by the following sponsor partners, such as Enuan, Pasetti, Favini, La Dama di Capestrano and the institutional bodies Mic Regional Directorate of Museums of Abruzzo, Academy of Fine Arts of L’Aquila, Regional Council of Abruzzo, Municipality of Capestrano and Fondazione Carispaq.
