Elizabeth Cocciaretto she decided to withdraw from the WTA tournament in Bad Homburg, Germany, giving up the first round match against the Greek Maria Sakkari, number 9 in the world. The decision of the tennis player from the Marche seems to be motivated by the desire to better manage her energy in view of the upcoming Wimbledon, which will start on July 1st.

Fresh from his excellent performance in the Birmingham tournament, Cocciaretto preferred not to push himself further, opting for a period of recovery and specific training on the Championships courts. This strategic choice aims to present themselves in the best possible conditions at the most prestigious tournament of the grass season.

In place of the Italian, the German took the field Jule Niemeier like lucky loser. Cocciaretto’s decision is not an isolated one: other players, such as the Russian Anna Kalinskaya (Janik Sinner’s girlfriend), also made a similar choice, withdrawing from Bad Homburg after playing the final in Berlin.

This move highlights the importance of Wimbledon in the tennis calendar and the need for players to carefully manage their schedule and physical resources. For Cocciaretto, retiring from Bad Homburg represents an investment in the immediate future, with the aim of shining on the prestigious pitches of the All England Club.
