ATP Ranking, Sinner increasingly number one in the world Il Tirreno

ROME (ITALPRESS) – Yesterday’s triumph in Halle allowed Jannik Sinner to be increasingly at the top of the world tennis rankings, updated this morning by the ATP. The South Tyrolean player has increased his lead over his main rivals in the international ranking. Sinner is also leading the “Race to Turin”, like the Bolelli-Vavassori duo, who after triumphing in Halle are leading the doubles race. The South Tyrolean won the first tournament played as world number 1, as well as for the first time on green courts. He became the 17th active player with at least one trophy to his name on all three surfaces that characterize the circuit: grass, hard and clay.
This week Sinner has 9,890 points in the ranking, 1,530 more than Novak Djokovic, who rose to number 2 even without playing, and 1,760 more than Alcaraz, who slipped to third place having failed to confirm the title he won at Queen’s twelve months ago. All three should return to the field directly at Wimbledon, where the Serbian will test from today, returning after knee surgery.
As for the other Italians, it was a week with few highlights, with the exception of Lorenzo Musetti, who returned to the top 25 thanks to the first ATP final obtained in his career on grass, at Queen’s. Overall in today’s world rankings, Italy boasts four players in the top 40 and nine in the top 100.
This is the top ten of the new ATP ranking:
