Fantastic Four, confirmed when (and where) the Marvel film will be set. The news

Big news on the next film of the Fantastic Fourwhich will introduce the team of heroes and the villain Galactus inside the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The head of the studios himself, Kevin Feigehas now shared some news that confirms rumors and theories about it.

When the cast of the film was announced on Valentine’s Day – consisting of Pedro Pascal as Reed Richards/Mister Fantastic, Vanessa Kirby as Sue Storm/Invisible Woman, Ebon Moss-Bachrach in the rocky shoes of Ben Grimm/The Thing and Joseph Quinn in the fiery ones of Johnny Storm/Human Torch – a detail was immediately noticed: one of the characters is holding in his hand an issue of the famous Life magazine from December 1963, which shows the then President of the United States Lyndon B. Johnson in his desk at the White House, historically immortalizing his election to the highest political office in the USA.

From here, it was immediately assumed that Fantastic Four would be set in the past. Which has now been officially confirmed: «It’s a period film – declared Feige, who then added – And there was another image that we posted with Johnny Storm flying through the air doing a 4 symbol. There was a cityscape in that image. There have been many intelligent people who have noticed that urban landscape it didn’t look exactly like the New York we know or to the New York that existed in the 1960s in our world. These are intelligent observations, no doubt about it…». Below, the image cited by the CEO of Marvel Studios.

The film will therefore be positioned well before the saga of the Infinity Stones, when Captain America was still under ice and Iron Man perhaps not yet born, and apparently also in an alternative reality, thus fully immersing itself in the saga of the Multiverse. As recently announced, there will not only be the four heroes but also the super villain Galactus, a female version of his Herald Silver Surfer and… John Malkovich!

The filming date is also approaching: Kevin Feige has confirmed that they will begin on the Monday after Comic-Con, therefore on July 29, 2024. The director will be Matt Shakman (WandaVision) and the release date is currently confirmed: Fantastic Four will arrive in theaters July 25, 2025.
