The upcoming weekend will close the 2024 edition of Pisan June with the Gioco del Ponte. Then the summer of music begins on the Pisan coast with the scheduled events of Marenia and with the new edition of the Rocca’n’Roll Festival in Vicopisano; music and street food is the combination proposed for those who find themselves in Ponsacco. The appointment with the tortello, shin and beer festival of Agnano is renewed to combine food with convivial atmospheres. A walk in Bocca di Serchio is the perfect option for relaxing in the open air, and for those who want to enjoy nature by bicycle there is a special tour in Riparbella.
The last Saturday of June for the city of Pisa is synonymous with Gioco del Ponte. The event that closes June in Pisa will start at 6pm on Saturday 29 June with the installation of the Armed Pickets in the parade grounds. The fights between the 12 Magistrates divided between Tramontana and Mezzogiorno will begin at 9pm on the Ponte di mezzo, preceded by the Judges’ Procession and the historical procession, with over 750 participants who will parade on the four riversides in the perimeter between Ponte Solferino and Ponte della Fortezza.
Eliopoli Summer a Calambrone
The summer of events on the Pisan coast begins with the Eliopoli format, included in the calendar of the ‘Marenia’ summer festival. Saturday 29 June at 10pm starts with the concert of the tribute band Pianeta Zero in Piazza Antonio Madonna. Same location for the performance of the Solidago dance school of Calambrone 24 hours later.
The Rocca’n’Roll Festival in Vicopisano returns on Saturday, June 29th to Piazza Cavalca for its ninth edition. Starting at 7 pm, Meri Lu Jacket, Dome la Muerte EXP, and Francesco Mandelli’s Dead Visions will perform. The event, hosted by Silvia ‘Zia Rock’ Barsotti, will also be an opportunity to enjoy craft beers outdoors to accompany street food.
Four evenings, which also include those on Saturday and Sunday, for a tasty event in the name of conviviality: it is the festival of tortello, shank and craft beer from Agnano, at the ‘La Pergola’ club. This year’s menu features a wide range of tortelli with different fillings and condiments, including ragù, mushrooms, fish sauce and cherry tomatoes with stracciatella. The second main dish will be the pork shank, with grilled meat as an alternative. To all this will be added the appetizers based on cured meats, croutons and fried pasta. To quench your thirst it will be possible to order a craft beer from those offered. After dinner, dance will become the protagonist of every evening.
A way to experience an evening in nature, in relaxed company and contributing to the cause of the association ‘Life beyond the mirror’. This is how the ‘Sunset and starry night at Bocca di Serchio’ walk presents itself, which will be held in the Migliarino San Rossore Massacciuccoli Park on Sunday starting at 6:30 pm. The 6 km walk is led by Azimut Treks and includes a stop on the beach to have a picnic dinner while watching the sunset.
Two events combine to enrich the summer of Ponsacco with fun and beauty. The third edition of the ‘Ponsacco Street Festival Rock&Blues’ and the 14th edition of the ‘BlueSacco’, which take place simultaneously from 27 to 30 June, offer free concerts in Piazza Valli, while the street food, with food trucks from all over Italy, will be concentrated in Corso Matteotti. A children’s play area will be set up in Piazza San Giovanni to make the festival family-friendly. On Saturday and Sunday the ‘BlueSacco’ comes to life, giving blues lovers moments of great music with Love Sick and the special guest of this edition, the guitarist, singer, producer and songwriter Luke Winslow King.
The Riparbella area becomes the backdrop for a nighttime e-bike tour that will take place on Saturday, June 29 along a 22 km route with stops at two wineries and a recently inaugurated excellent facility. The start of the ride is scheduled for 5:30 p.m., and former Masterchef contestant Francesca Filippone will be there to welcome participants for dinner, preparing a meal with zero-mile ingredients.
