“The fact that wild boars are spotted right in the center should not be surprising: it is the measure of a planning of containment activities that in reality never started. Now a push is needed because it is no longer possible to postpone interventions that allow a drastic reduction of dangers for the population and damage to agricultural crops”.
Coldiretti Marche supports this in commenting on the news of the wild boar immortalized in a video while it was running around in via Martiri della Resistenza. For this reason Coldiretti Marche has decided to organize a massive mobilization for July 15 that will bring tractors and farmers under the buildings of the Marche Region.
According to the reports of the same Region, 75% of the damage in agriculture is caused by wild boars, a species in excess (40 thousand specimens are “underestimated”) and a source of danger both for road traffic and for the contagion of swine fever. The national Government has introduced new regulations that provide, if necessary, the extraordinary intervention of the army, the possibility of capture even in protected areas or in urban areas.
Farmers are asking to immediately apply, at a regional level, the measures provided for by the inter-ministerial decree passed last year for the adoption of an extraordinary plan for the management and containment of wild fauna, a rethinking of the ATCs, the streamlining of procedures for compensation to farmers, the strengthening of prevention means.
