Elena Vezzulli, director of the municipal attorney’s office for 21 years, was transferred to another role. She will be the director of civil protection. This is the latest news relating to the internal dispute within the Municipality of Piacenza over the past few months. The lawyer Vezzulli, who no longer enjoys the trust of the Tarasconi Administration and the general director of the institution Luca Canessa, was thus moved in role in the organization chart of the organization. The peak of the conflict between Vezzulli, on the one hand, and the Administration and the general manager of the institution was reached in the affair relating to Piazza Cittadella and the car parks, with Canessa and Vezzulli publicly shifting the responsibilities for the false guarantee to parking concession coverage.

As usual, the people of Piacenza will pay the “heavy” bill for this “retaliation”, who will find themselves financing – with their own savings – external defense assignments (as already happened for the first round at the TAR of the contract, for an amount close to 6,000 euros) and who will realize that they are, unfortunately, governed by a mayor who only wants to be surrounded by a court of gentlemen. A situation, as history reminds us, which usually represents the beginning of the end. On the other hand, if authority is effort, mediation and comparison, authoritarianism is using a big voice to slyly avoid annoyances, to hide dust under the carpet, to turn one’s gaze elsewhere. Much more convenient… And this is what is happening with the dismissal of the top director of the legal profession, who for a quarter of a century has carried out his role at the service of the community, representing the Municipality of Piacenza in all legal cases. An inconvenient character, Vezzulli, due to his autonomy of thought and irreproachability, fundamental characteristics to avoid legal slip-ups and dangerous drifts, docet sureties…From tomorrow, if Elena Vezzulli’s removal actually goes through, we will therefore take note – with concern – that to protect our juridical-legal interests will be those who have never done it for a living. From tomorrow, if Elena Vezzulli really becomes director of the Civil Protection, we will know – with no less concern – that those who do not have the specific technical/professional skills will guarantee us safety in prevention activities from natural disasters (and not only).
