Attacked during Pride because they are lesbians
During the parade of the June 29th two women were attacked by some unknown women and their parents, in the center of Naples. What unleashed the anger of the attackers was their sexual orientation: «M**da lesbian“, they shouted among other insults, “You suck.” The couple, with the medical reports in hand and after filing a complaint, told everything that happened to Fanpage.it. “The attacks took place in two distinct phases,” the newspaper reports. According to the victims, in fact, “It all started in via Toledoin the middle of the procession, it was 6 pm. These two girls were crossing it and we accidentally hit them with a few splashes of water. They immediately turned to us in an aggressive manner, I had the impression that they were already annoyed by the demonstration. They poured a can of orange soda on me and threw themselves at me. Our friends intervened and pulled us aside, we came out with only a few scratches».
Kicks, punches and homophobic insults
After half an hour, however, the group clashed again with more violence, this time the alleged 18-year-olds had with them a helmet and their parents: the mother, about 40 years old, and the father, 45 by eye, who remained to watch. «We were going home when we saw them in Charity Square. They were stationed with their parents, with helmets in their hands. The two sisters and their mother attacked us, they hit us repeatedly on the head”, the couple recalls. “Three of them attacked my girlfriend– one says – they threw her to the ground, they pulled her hair out. She had a panic attack, luckily the police intervened, they were nearby following the procession. We waited for her to recover and we went to the Emergency Room of Pellegrini Hospital to have a report made. We then went to the police station, on Via Medina, to file a complaint.”
One of the victims reported a Non-concussive maxillofacial and cranial traumafor which hospitalization and medical observation for a week is recommended. But the most complex thing for the couple will be to recover on an emotional level: “No one would go back, even armed with a helmet, for a little water on their bodies. The main reason for the attack was homophobia. While they were beating us, they called us “Shitty lesbians, you have to die”. The reason wasn’t the splash of water, it was the hate».
