LECCE – The Archbishop of Lecce Michele Seccia intervenes on the serious intimidating episode that occurred the day after the conclusion of the runoff that decreed the victory of Adriana Poli Bortone as mayor of the city. A package with a threatening letter, with clear references to the recent administrative elections, and with a bullet, was delivered last Tuesday to the home of the Democratic deputy Claudio Stefanazzi and was addressed not only to him but also to the Councilor for Economic Development of the Puglia Region Alessandro Delli Noci (as reported in previous articles).

“Indignation is not enough, mine is a clear condemnation of the vile gesture committed against the two political exponents. Working together for the common good, as I reiterated the other day when I addressed my good wishes to the new mayor of the city, is a noble choice that does not allow pauses and above all cannot be the object of insults, abuse, intimidation and even less of threats, whether veiled or overt.
While I confirm my esteem, my personal closeness and the solidarity of the entire diocesan community towards Stefanazzi and Delli Noci, I hope very much that the investigators, in the exercise of their silent and praiseworthy service, will trace the authors of this crime as soon as possible. criminal act so that whoever committed it is punished according to what the rules of healthy coexistence prescribe.
To the winners and the losers, to the elected and the non-elected, I ask an act of courage: bury the axes of the ‘electoral battle’ and roll up your sleeves in the dialectical confrontation so that the civic representation assigned by the democratic vote both to the members of the majority and to those of the opposition, who are presumed to be the ‘best’ among us, becomes an instrument of unity and contributes to the common good.
