The order and security committee convened in Sassari.
The prefect of Sassari, Grazia La Faucihas called the Provincial Committee for Public Order and Safety for Thursday afternoon, after having carefully followed all the phases relating to the armed assault on the headquarters of the MondialpolThe meeting will see the participation of the Attorney General of Cagliari, Luigi Patronaggio, and the coordinator of the District Anti-Mafia Directorate of Sardinia, Rodolfo Sabelli.
The invitation to Sabelli is motivated by the level of organization of the gangconsidered organized crime due to the number of members, the supply of weapons of war and the readiness to shoot against the police forces in areas of high risk for civilians.
Fauci also mentioned the importance of review and update prevention procedures and suggested the possibility of reducing the circulation of large amounts of cash, while acknowledging that it is not possible to delete it altogether. He spoke of starting a new path to avoid events like Friday’s, which put many lives at risk.
Meanwhile the police union Fsp, through the provincial secretary Tamara Marcelli, described the attack on Mondialpol as a near tragedy. The union stressed the need for more resources, coordination and optimization to ensure public safety.
Marcelli criticized the current ones working conditions of the Flying Squad policemenstating that the essential activities are supported only by the sense of duty of a few officers. He highlighted the lack of available patrols, with often only one patrol per shift, if any, in cities like Sassari and Olbia. This deficit makes it difficult to adequately respond to requests for intervention and guarantee the operator safety.
