In Valle D’Aosta the most affected area is Valnontey where Cogne remained isolated. In the Turin area a family with a small child was rescued after being caught in the flood of the Orco torrent.
An intense wave of bad weather devastated Piedmont and Valle D’Aosta causing floods, landslides and hailstorms which have isolated several inhabited centers and caused extensive damage. Intense storms raged throughout the north-west of Italy starting on Saturday evening and continuing for hours until Sunday morning, swelling streams and rivers which flooded in several places. Numerous people evacuated and displaced in both regions. In the Aosta Valley the most affected area is Valnontey where Cogne remained isolated. In Piedmont, the Alpine valleys of Turin have been hit hard. Several people were evacuated and dozens of firefighters intervened all night long. He also closed several roads due to landslides and the risk of torrents flooding. Intense hailstorms caused damage to dozens of cars, as in Cuorgnè, while in some areas storms and strong winds even uncovered houses.
Floods and landslides in Aosta Valley, Cogne isolated
