Saturday, July 6, at 6:00 p.m., in the Borremans room of Palazzo Butera, in Bagheria, the presentation of the new volume by Kalós, “Bagaria, place of delights”, written by Caterina Guttuso. The mayor Filippo Tripoli and the councilor Elisa Insinga will speak; the journalist Camillo Scaduto will converse with the author and Simona Aiello will read some pages of the book.

A fertile and lush plain, elegant villas and noble residences with tree-lined avenues, sumptuous ornamental parks and romantic gardens: all this made Bagaria – as it was called in the eighteenth century – one of the most visited destinations of the Grand Tour. But what is left of this “place of delights”? From this question was born the ambitious and visionary idea of the author to undertake a journey in search of her “ideal city”, recreating on canvas architecture and places that are now severely damaged, if no longer existing, to retrace through words and images the history of Bagheria at the time of its maximum splendor.

Caterina Guttuso, figurative painter and art history expert, has always studied the beauty of her territory. Since 2001 she has been president of the association “Amaide”. In 2007 she was awarded a solemn commendation by the president of the regional province of Palermo. In 2011 she was registered as an Italian artist at Das Deutsche Kunstarchiv, in the Nuremberg Museum. Since 2021 she has been president of the cultural association “Anthemion”. She has exhibited her works in prestigious venues: Deutsches Hirtenmuseum, Hersburck; Guttuso Museum, Bagheria; Fortezza da Basso, Florence; Villa Pallanza, Verbania; Albergo delle Povere, Palermo; Kreis Galerie am Germanischen Nationalmuseum, Nuremberg.
