The new women’s soccer project by AC Carpi was presented yesterday. With the promotion to C, the red and white club had the obligation to form a women’s youth sector, even just by putting its name to an existing club (as happened for the old Carpi Fc with San Paolo, now Modena after the canaries’ jump to B), but president Lazzaretti wanted to go further and therefore the collaboration with Limidi gave birth to Carpi-Limidi, which with a double logo and red and white jersey will have four teams: a first team in the regional championship (Eccellenza or Promozione), then Under 17, Under 15 and the smallest from Under 12 to Under 10. “We are very happy – explains director general Enrico Bonzanini – and president Lazzaretti has once again shown that he believes, bets and invests in the territory. We have chosen not to compete but to give life to a healthy and constructive collaboration. There was immediate full sharing with Limidi and we are pleased that it returns to be part of the Carpi family. For us, women’s football is a start up, but we are experiencing it with great enthusiasm”. Limidi thus becomes the Ac Carpi women’s Academy and after the open days of the past few weeks there will be another on July 4th in Mirandola. “With Carpi it was football love at first sight – explains Vincenzo Mottola, who has been leading the Limidi women’s sector for 4 years together with Diletta Turco – and this collaboration is a great opportunity for us, both because in the past (for the football school, ed.) we have always found a reliable partner, and because for us it is also essential to work in the area”. The first team that will train and play in Limidi (“but we are keeping an eye on other fields in the Carpi area for the youth teams” explains Bonzanini) will be led by Lorenzo Borciani, former coach of the old Carpi FC’s baby biancorossi and two years ago at the helm of the Athletic Carpi Juniores team that reached the final stages, who is also the coordinator of all women’s activity.

With him is the assistant Francesco Manfrin. In the Under 15 instead there are mister Gennaro Geraneo with the assistant Matteo Rettighieri. At the moment the team where the roster is still under construction is the Under 17, which is looking for girls in the area. “I have to say thank you to Carpi – explains Borciani – and to Limidi. It is an honor to be able to return to Carpi, for me women’s soccer is a completely new experience, but there is ample room to make a long-lasting project in the area”.
