The redevelopment work on the basketball court in the Verri–Brazzelli Park, in the Santi Apostoli district, has been completed. They were created by the municipal administration with the contribution of 30,000 Euros offered by the MeLa Gioco Association, an organization created in memory of Niccolò Sartoni (in the photo), athlete of the Busto Arsizio Basket club, a young teacher who died prematurely, an association that is committed to promoting social inclusion through sporting and recreational events, medical prevention, research against melanoma and the right to study. The works involved the reconstruction of the ground, the redevelopment of the existing baskets, the replacement of benches, baskets and other accessories serving the field which was inaugurated yesterday as part of a basketball and baskin (inclusive basketball) tournament dedicated to memory of Sartoni and organized by the same association which also donated the painting and decoration of the pitch, works whose value amounts to 10,000 euros. There were 100 volunteers, of all ages, who gave Francesca Cassani a hand in painting the playground.

In the center circle there is the logo of the MelaGioco association with a basketball from which rays branch out that cut across the entire surface: it is the sign of Niko’s presence. Every year, “Niko’s” friends gather to remember him on a basketball court. Yesterday’s tournament was a record-breaking one with 24 teams registered, both male and female, plus a baskin demonstration. The redevelopment was completed by the embellishment of the entrance to the park with the works of two young artists, Marta Gabba and Medea Quadrelli.
