It will be dedicated to Giacomo Puccini the twenty-first edition of the Bitonto Opera Festival, inserted in the Bitonto Festival Network and organized by La Macina APS and Coro Lirico Città di Bitonto, with the patronage of the Municipality of Bitonto. The 2024 program of the opera festival of the city of oil will be a journey to discover the composer of “Madama Butterfly”, the masterpiece in three acts that the BOF will bring to the stage in the cloister of the Istituto Sacro Cuore of Bitonto on August 6th. Four events are scheduled, waiting for the main event.

It’s already starting Wednesday, July 3rd at 6.30 pm in the garden of the “Giovanni XXIII” Foundation with “Puccini in our time”. The show, with free admission, will feature the kids from the In.Centro social project with the performance “Flowermoon”. Their singing and choreography, designed by Vincenzo De Michele, will act as a trailblazer for the trio “Divina Armonia”. Fabio D’Amato on the piano, Elena D’Amato on the violin and soprano Carola Ricciotti will perform some of the classics of Italian song that are influenced by Puccini. The evening will conclude with the children’s choir “Pueri Cantores Terlicium” from Terlizzi, performing the most beautiful arias from the operas of the composer from Lucca.

The approach path to August 6 will then resume Saturday 27th July and Mariottoa hamlet of Bitonto, with a concert for string quartet, voices and piano of Puccini’s classics. A special listening guide then Monday 29th July when Bitonto will host Dario Vergassola. From the stage of the Sacro Cuore institute, the famous Ligurian comedian, with a biting and ironic style, will outline the figure of Puccini. Wednesday, July 31st the BOF will instead stop at Divera hamlet of Bitonto. In the church of Maria SS Immacolata, Puccini’s “Messa di Gloria” will be performed, with soloists, choir, piano and string quartet. During all the events it will be possible to buy tickets, already on sale on TicketOne at a cost of 15 euros, for the staging of the opera “Madama Butterfly”, scheduled at the Istituto Sacro Cuore in Bitonto on the evening of Tuesday 6th August.
