The Tour de France, the most important international cycling event, will take place for the first time for the three initial stages in Italy. Two of the three stages will involve the province of Forlì-Cesena on Saturday 29 June, with stage 1 Florence – Rimini, Sunday 30 June, with stage 2 Cesenatico-Bologna.

The passage of the runners along the route will be preceded by two hours by the passage of the advertising caravan.

The municipalities of our Province affected by the route are: Premilcuore, Santa Sofia, Galeata, Bagno di Romagna, Sarsina, Mercato Saraceno, Sogliano al Rubicone on Saturday; Cesenatico on Sunday.

First stop June 29th

The caravan of runners, coming from Florence, from the Tre Faggi pass, it will enter Romagna in the provincial territory at approximately 12.00, via the SP3 “DEL RABBI”, crossing the Casentino Forest National Park, Monte Falterona and Campigna. After passing the town of Premilcuore, it will continue to descend along the Rabbi valley until reaching Strada San Zeno. Here, having crossed the bridge over the Rabbi river, the race will take the SP24 “FORCHE”, which will be followed until it reaches Val Bidente, in the town of Galeata. The Mountain Grand Prix will be held on the Forche pass.

After crossing the town of Galeata, the stage will continue onto the SP4 “DEL BIDENTE”, which will be followed for a stretch, up to the center of Santa Sofia, and then turn towards the SP26 “CARNAIO”, on which, at the pass, you will witness at the Mountain Grand Prix.

Once past the Carnaio pass, the race will continue downhill to San Piero in Bagno, in the Savio Valley, and then join the SS71 Umbro Casentinese towards Cesena.

Transit is then planned from the inhabited centers of Sarsina and Mercato Saraceno where, having crossed the bridge over the Savio river, the Barbotto climb will be taken, SP12 “BARBOTTO”, which will be followed until reaching the SP11 “SOGLIANO”, in the direction Savignano di Rigo and then to the border with the Province of Rimini at approximately 2.20 pm. The Mountain Grand Prix will also be held at the Barbotto pass.

The provincial roads involved

These are the sections of the provincial roads used by cyclists:

SP3 “DEL RABBI”

– from km 51+075 (start of jurisdiction, border with the Tuscany Region)

– at km 27+700 (Strada San Zeno, SP24 “FORCHE” intersection)

SP24 “FORCHE” (entire road)

– from km 5+667 (Strada San Zeno, SP3 “DEL RABBI” intersection)

– at km 0+000 (Galeata town centre, intersection with Via G. Matteotti)

SP4 “DEL BIDENT”

– from km 57+300 (Galeata town centre, Via IV Novembre intersection)

– at km 51+100 (village of Santa Sofia, Via D. Alighieri intersection)

On these roads the following will be arranged:

TRANSIT PROHIBITION from 11:00 to 15:30, in both directions for all vehicles, with the sole exception of authorised persons, residents and all emergency vehicles and the police force carrying out their duties;

NO PARKING AND STOPPING from 8.00pm on 06/28/2024 to 3.30pm on 06/29/2024 in both directions with forced removal on the roadway, on the shoulder and on the grassy verge adjacent to the sides of the roadway;

SP26 “CARNAIO” (entire road)

– from km 0+000 (Santa Sofia town centre, Via D. Alighieri intersection)

– at km 15+616 (town center of San Piero in Bagno, SS71 intersection)

SP12 “BARBOTTO” (entire road)

– from km 0+000 (Mercato Saraceno town centre, SS71 intersection)

– at km 4+682 (Bar Restaurant Barbotto, SP11 “SOGLIANO” intersection)

SP11 “SOGLIANO”

– from km 30+300 (SP79 “RIO PETRA” intersection)

– at km 32+542 (end of jurisdiction, border with the Province of Rimini)

On these streets will be placed:

TRANSIT BAN from 10:00 to 16:30, in both directions for all vehicles, with the sole exception of authorized vehicles and all emergency vehicles and police forces carrying out their functions;

FROM 10:00 AM TO 12:00 PM, transit remains permitted to residents, cycles and motorcycles.

PARKING AND STOPPING PROHIBITION from 8:00 pm on 06/28/2024 to 4:30 pm on 06/29/2024 in both directions with forced removal from the roadway, on the hard shoulder and on the grassy verge adjacent to the sides of the roadway;

The caravan of runners will depart from Cesenatico at 10.15 am and will enter the provincial territory of Ravenna at 10.46 am in the direction of Cervia and Milano Marittima. No provincial roads in the Province of Forlì Cesena will be involved.

On site, the roads will be monitored by the organization’s assistance staff and the police, who will be able to issue timely instructions to road users.
