Massimo Vita has been suspended from the position of president of the Union of the Blind and Visually Impaired of Siena. Vita himself communicated this in a long letter.

The suspension, he explains, was triggered following a “disciplinary measure by the Board of Arbitrators of my association on the initiative of three managers of our Tuscan association”.

“I was punished for having openly criticized the political conduct of our association at a national level and for having done so publicly involving citizens and politicians given that, in my opinion, everyone has the right to know what happens in a third sector body which, on the other hand, he lives on public contributions”,

Vita then addresses the citizens “so that the section does not lack your support and closeness as you have always done when I was in charge of it. So that you can draw the attention of the political class to what is happening in this great reality of our country. The section certainly has the strength to continue the path it has undertaken for some time both due to the presence of attentive and passionate managers and the presence of expert and above all dedicated and passionate collaborators”.

“The network – he continues – with which we are carrying out admirable work will certainly be of help and I thank all the colleagues of the associations involved with whom I have always collaborated with passion and satisfaction. My thanks go to them and to all of you for how close you have been to the UICI and for how you will be in the future but I cannot help but complain about the lack of attention that the governing bodies are ensuring to all the events that undermine the life of one of the most historic associations of disabled people. The history of our association is punctuated with great successes and work recognized by its sisters but today it suffers due to a management entrenched in defense of its own power rather than in defense of transparency, legality and pluralism”.

The gloss: “Certainly I will not fail to contribute my ideas and experience to the Siena section which is now entrusted to the loving care of my former vice president Lucia Pecorelli and to the sectional council and collaborators. I hope that this period of discomfort for our association ends as soon as possible and that we can work with greater serenity in Siena too. Thanks again and please, always follow the Italian Union of the Blind and Visually Impaired for over a hundred years at the service of the category and the community”.
