A big new feature for 2024 is the “Network of Sustainable Municipalities”, the Guide that collects stories of sustainable tourism across the Peninsula.
Almost one hundred municipalities and over a thousand good practices described to tell the story of the Italy that tries, the Italy of mayors and local administrators who believe that sustainable development and tourism can go hand in hand.

Like the municipal administration of Legnano which, in recent years, has been developing a strategy based on the concept of sustainability, which is expressed in various initiatives and good practices reported in the Guide.

As stated in a note, these range from urban regeneration interventions which have benefited from PNRR funds intercepted through various tenders and which are redeveloping public buildings structurally and from an energy point of view, including various historical identity assets of the city. Among the sustainable initiatives mentioned are Forestami (which allowed the Municipality to be identified for the SUPERB project), the punctual tariff, the Bicipolitana, and the home/school/home/work mobility vouchers. Among the good sustainability practices is participation in the 2023-2025 program Intelligent Cities Challengethe carbon neutral circular economy strategy created by the non-profit company Neutalia and the Green and Trade Network.

In the pages of the Guide you can find many good reasons to visit the cities and towns of the Sustainable Municipalities Network, including assets recovered through urban regeneration projects and redeveloped green areas. It can also become an important point of reference for administrators to discover virtuous experiences and replicate good practices and successful models.

Last March we formalized our membership of the Network of Sustainable Municipalities in order to have a discussion table and exchange of good practices with other cities on a topic, that of environmental sustainability, which represents the key to ensuring a future for the new generations. It seemed important to us to be present in the pages of this guide to help make known what we are doing on the subject and promote the image of Legnano in terms of tourism for its important green spaces. We will talk about this guide very soon; in fact, on Saturday 29 July, in the library park, within the first Urban Festival of sustainability, the general director of the Network of Sustainable Municipalities will present the publication”, comments the mayor Lorenzo Radice.
