New vascular surgery department and angiography room in Sassari – News

They are the new vascular surgery department, located on the fourth floor of the main building of the Santissima Annunziata, and the new angiography room located on the second floor of the hospital.

“The renovation works of the Vascular Surgery and the construction of a new Angiography room are part of a path undertaken as part of the modernization plan that our company is carrying out – declares Antonio Lorenzo Spano, general director of the Aou of Sassari – We have carried out a complete renovation of the structures, financed with the 2014/20 European Development and Cohesion Funds (FSC). The department has 20 beds distributed in 6 different types of rooms: single, double or with four places. After a year and a half of work, the vascular surgery together with the angiographic room of the Santissima Annunziata are only the last pieces of a work of modernization and technological adaptation of our structures”.

“The department was created with the aim of optimizing the pathways in the services provided by vascular surgery, which are often highly complex in “fragile” and urgent and emergency patients, while at the same time guaranteeing a personalized and safe treatment path”, stated the director of the Complex Structure of Vascular and Endovascular Surgery, Gian Franco Fadda.

Reference center for the north of Sardinia and for the territories of Nuoro and Ogliastra, vascular and endovascular surgery is a complex structure which includes the simple structure “Minimally invasive and endovascular methods”, for which Dr. Sandro Ciccarello and the simple structure “Phlebological Surgery”, of which Dr. Franco Piredda is responsible. “Our structure is extremely important for the territory and for the entire north center of the island with regards to aortic and peripheral vascular emergencies and trauma – underlines Doctor Fadda -. It is a high-volume center for major vascular surgery both in election than in emergency/urgency and we collaborate with colleagues from the other departments in a multidisciplinary perspective. Thanks to the increase in beds, which has gone from 8 to 20, we expect a significant reduction in surgical waiting lists in all departments. areas of vascular surgical interest”.
