The Scout House at Ila Park remembers its history

Originally an incinerator, today the Scout House at Ila Park is home to the play and nature care activities of the Legnano scouting groups

Legnano – It was 1907 when Sir Robert Baden-Powell founded the scouting movement, which today numbers approximately 38 million scouts (male adherents) e 10 million guides (the female adherents), in 216 different countries and territories around the world.

Instead it was the 1924 when Legnano officially became a cityan event which today is also celebrated with the naming of the Scout house at Ila Park to the “founders of Legnano scouting” who have always, but in particular since the Second World War, left a very strong impact on city associations.

City scouting groups, such as the AGESCI Legnano Group 1, AGESCI Legnano Group 9 and the MASCI. These are in fact among the founders ofIla Legnano Park Scout House Association, and particularly active in the recovery of the structure which comes this Sunday 23 June further embellished.

On 21 March 2014 the constituent assembly formed by the scout groups Legnano 1, Legnano 9 and Masci, and several people interested in the problems connected to the education of children, laid the foundations for a new intense adventure, taking root in the beating heart of the Legnano associations , with the establishment of the “Casa Scout Parco Ila” association” They wanted to remember those present, accompanied by the mayor Lorenzo Radiceshortly before the unveiling of the plaque, strictly made of wood and covered with a red and blue handkerchief. The colors of Legnano 1, but above all the fusion of the scarves that they used Legnano partisan movementsred for the Garibaldi Brigade and blue for the Catholic partisans, when it was necessary to be recognized without attracting too much attention.

The Scout house, originally a small incinerator abandoned to the elements, and “Covered entirely in ivy and home only to mice and squirrels – now it has become, the association proudly reiterates – a clean and tidy home ready to welcome scout groups from every corner of Lombardybut not only, to educate children through their activities to respect everyone and the nature that surrounds us“.
