The first beauty center dedicated exclusively to the care and well-being of men opens its doors in the city. Is called Bellomo and is located in the heart of the Florentine Oltrarno, in Via Sant’Onofrio 6R. The idea comes from Tommaso Signorini, a young 41-year-old Florentine entrepreneur who has always been looking for innovative projects.
“I started being an entrepreneur at 25 – says Tommaso -. I managed a pub, I was one of the founding partners of Treedom and, before throwing myself into this project, I managed a restaurant. After the pandemic I realized that the catering world was having difficulties: increasingly expensive utilities, staff shortages and high raw material costs. So I thought about changing fields but I wanted to do something innovative.”
So Bellomo was born, a place where man can finally take care of himself. In the over 100 m2 shop there are relaxation areas, two operating rooms for pedicures, manicures and massages, spa and regenerative paths. “It is right that man also rediscovers parts of himself that until now were a proxy of femininity. The great thing about Bellomo is that when I talk about it to women they are enthusiastic. We have only recently opened but many mothers, sisters, wives and girlfriends have already given us treatments for their partners. Obviously, being a specialized center only for men, we use special treatments for the male body that other beauty centers do not have. To give some examples, we use Brazilian wax which causes less folliculitis, or after waxing we treat the hair bulb with ozone”.
Although the center has only been open for two weeks, many people stop by to ask for information and try the treatments offered. Tommaso’s objective is also to convince skeptics and undermine some now obsolete beliefs. “I’ve noticed that there is a lot of curiosity, and this makes me happy. There are clichés that need to be overcome. The idea of the man who cares was somewhat applied to the world of gays or the world of athletes. In many other countries in the world, however, this is not the case, in fact it is a very normal thing. If we men are the ones who think this first and foremost, then society itself, when it comes to relating to those normal dynamics, such as taking care of the self, will have the thought that it is a delegation that does not belong to it. After all, we Italians are known throughout the world for taking care of beauty in dressing, so why shouldn’t we also take care of our bodies?”.
Tommaso’s dream is to try to bring his idea throughout Italy. And he wants to give advice to young entrepreneurs like him. “When you have an idea you have to develop it with work, but above all with curiosity. At the beginning in startups you need to know how to do a bit of everything, even getting your hands dirty. The financial part is obviously very important, but if there is passion and a dream the difficulties can be overcome. But always with curiosity.”
