The State Police of Matera has carried out an order revoking the precautionary measure of house arrest and simultaneously replacing it with custody in prison, ordered by the Judge for Preliminary Investigations of the Court of Matera, against a 19-year-old foreign citizen.

The man was subjected to the precautionary measure of house arrest in Matera, after being arrested in April for resisting a public official, causing personal injury and making threats. Until, on May 23, he left without authorization, losing track of himself, to try to cross the state border and make himself untraceable on national territory. Identified by the Guardia di Finanza at the Chiasso (CO) railway crossing, on the border with Swiss territory, on 12 June, he was arrested for tax evasion and taken back to his home in Matera.

But the Public Prosecutor’s Office at the Court of Matera, in light of what happened, considering house arrest no longer adequate for the initial needs and taking into account the concrete danger of recurrence of criminal conduct, asked the GIP to aggravate the measure. Thus, the man was taken by the operators of the Flying Squad and the DIGOS (General Investigations Division for Special Operations) to the local prison.
