An Italian Cuisine. Project promoted by Italia Nostra under the patronage of the Municipality of Teramo
Teramo, June 28, 2024. Great participation at the inauguration of the exhibition on Teramo gastronomy. The rooms of the State Archives of Teramo saw a good influx of people for the opening event of the Teramo a Tavola exhibition. An Italian Cuisine, the project promoted by Italia Nostra Sez. “Valerio Croce” Teramo, with the patronage of the Municipality of Teramo.
The display of kitchen utensils, ceramics, containers, as well as recipes and documents dating back to centuries ago, tells the visitor the history of the gastronomy of the Province of Teramo and how it is an integral part of the broader Italian Cuisine. We remember how the exhibition is the result of almost two years of historical studies, archival research and a collection of data and culinary recipes created with the invaluable help of the citizens.
A multisensory experience involving original manuscripts (some unpublished!), decorative arts, audiovisual testimonies from the last century, sound effects that recall the atmosphere of a banquet and smells that capture the visitor’s attention also through smell. Over 130 visitors attended the moment of the initial greetings, with speeches by the President of Italia Nostra Teramo Section, Paola Di Felice, the Councilor of the Municipality of Teramo Antonio Filipponi, the Director of the State Archives of Teramo Valentina Carola and the two curators of the exhibition, Fernando Filipponi from Teramo, chargé de recherche at the Louvre Museum in Paris, and Professor Massimo Montanari of the Alma Mater Studiorum University of Bologna.
The exhibition is free to enter, at the Sant’Agostino headquarters of the State Archives of Teramo, which can be visited during the summer period between 24 June 2024 and 24 August 2024, following the opening hours of the Archive. It will be accompanied by a calendar full of collateral events, organized by local associations and bodies with the aim of describing Teramo gastronomy from different points of view. Every activity linked to the exhibition will be communicated on the Facebook and Instagram pages.
