Ten candles to blow out in one breath. There Brescia Music Festival grows and celebrates its first decade with an edition full of new features. The appointment is for today with 72 stages spread across the city, around 3,200 musicians and a hundred volunteers.
From 10am until midnight the city will breathe all musical genres: «It’s my debut as president – says Alberto Belgesto, successor to Jean Luc Stote – and I’m very excited. Our Music Festival is numerically one of the most attended in Italy, but also the best known in Europe. We have many people who work hard for passion and this engine is the essence of the event we propose. We will bring all musical genres to the various locations.”
The news
Among the novelties of this year are the preview last night in the Castle, with the talk with the journalist and radio speaker Massimo Cotto, the performance of the Fanfare of the Bersaglieri of Bedizzole and the performance of the Academy of Music of Bethlehem, the city twinned with Brescia.
The theme of the edition will be gender violence: there will be a stage dedicated to the artists and three purple gazebos, the places intended to offer first aid and immediate support to women victims of violence.
Among the new features of this edition there are also the thematic stages: in Campo Marte the Woodstock stage dedicated to the most well-known Brescian tribute bands, which will perform songs by the icons of international rock, while at Mo.Ca (from 7pm to midnight) «Forever young» will transform the courtyard of the palace of culture into a large disco with pop music from the 80s. In Corso Zanardelli a stage will be dedicated to Giulia Minolathe girl from Brescia who tragically died at the 2010 Love Parade.
City libraries will promote the program «Born for music» with activities from 10am to 12pm on Saturday: «We ask those who do not appreciate these types of entertainment – said Jean Luc Stote – to have tolerance for a few hours. Having said that, we hope it will be a day of celebration for everyone.”
