In the second round of municipal elections in Lombardy, 13 municipalities will vote in the runoff which will see, for each municipality, the two mayoral candidates who obtained the most votes at the polls on 8 and 9 June. Voters will then choose only between those two and whoever gets the majority of preferences will be elected.

We will vote Sunday 23 Junefrom 7.00 to 23.00, e Monday 24 June, from 7.00 to 15.00, in the same polling stations where voting was held for the first round. Here is the list of interested cities and the respective pairs of challengers.

In the Cremonese capital they will go to a run-off Alessandro Portesani for the centre-right, which obtained 43.2% of the preferences in the first round, and the outgoing centre-left deputy mayor Andrew Virgil, which stopped at 41.9%. The reconfirmation of the centre-left, which saw the end of the mandate of Gianluca Galimberti of the Democratic Party, is therefore at great risk.

The largest of the municipalities in the province of Milan that will go to the ballot is Paderno Dugnano. The mayoral candidates in the running are Carlo Boffi, supported by Fratelli d’Italia, Forza Italia, Lega and three civic lists, which took 47.5% of the votes in the first round; And Anna Variscosupported by the Democratic Party, Sinistra per Paderno Dugnano, Italia Viva and three other civic lists, which collected 43.6% of the preferences.

In Peschiera Borromeo they will compete Andrea Codencandidate for the centre-left coalition with 39.4% of the votes and Mario Orfeiwith the centre-right coalition, which stopped at 27.1% of the votes in the first round.

In Settimo Milanese the run-off will be between the centre-left mayoral candidate Fabio Rubagotti and that of the centre-right, Ruggiero Delvecchio. Both obtained 43.6% of the votes in the first round. The first, current deputy mayor, is supported by the Democratic Party, the Green and Left Alliance, the 5 Star Movement and two civic lists. The second is supported by all the centre-right political forces except the Brothers of Italy.

In Trezzano sul Naviglio there will be a run-off between the civic candidate Sandra Volpe, supported by the centre-left (which obtained 45.5% of the votes) and the centre-right candidate Giuseppe Morandi (with 49.1% of the preferences in the first round).

In Malnate, in the province of Varese, an open challenge between Sandro Damianimayoral candidate of the Brothers of Italy for the centre-right, e Nadia Cannito, candidate of the Democratic Party. Damiani obtained 31.4% of the votes in the first round, Cannito 27.7%.

In Chiari, the only municipality in the Brescia area on the ballot, the votes had to be recounted to establish who had won second place. The verdict arrived on Tuesday: the challenge will be between Gabriele Zottisupported by Fratelli d’Italia, Lega and Forza Italia, e Domenico Codoni, of the centre-left. In the first round, Zotti obtained 34.5% of the votes, while Codoni stopped at 28.7%.
