TERAMO – Good news for motorists in Teramo: the municipal administration has decided to suspend fines for expired parking tickets, introducing a courtesy warning system. The new measure, in force from this Monday, allows citizens to regularize parking payments throughout the day, until 8.30 pm, thus avoiding immediate penalties.
The decision comes after numerous protests from users, who complained about heavy fines for a few minutes of delay in updating the ticket. The municipal administration, together with the Prefecture, the traffic office, the local police and the legal profession, has found a solution that balances the needs of citizens with respect for the jurisprudence of the Supreme Court. The objective was to develop a provision that would avoid disputes or appeals.
But how does the Courtesy Notice work? In the event of an expired ticket, traffic officers will issue a courtesy warning. The coupon will contain a code that will allow the motorist to remedy his position by paying the amount due from the expiration of the ticket until the moment of regularization. For this service, a surcharge of 3 euros will be applied, in line with the practices adopted by other municipalities.

By connecting to the online portal www.portalepagamenti.it.
By going to the Teramo Parcheggi office in Piazzale San Francesco, open from Monday to Friday from 8:00 to 20:00 and on Saturdays from 8:00 to 14:00.
It is important to underline that the courtesy notice will only apply in the case of an expired ticket. For vehicles without a ticket, the penalty provided for by the Highway Code will continue to be applied.
The hope is that this initiative can reduce the number of fines contested and improve the relationship between citizens and the administration.
