470 meetings, 33 schools, over 5,800 students: these are the numbers of the teaching of the Movement Studies Center for the 2023/2024 school year just ended.
Numbers which for the researchers of the Center meant above all the meeting and exchange with students of schools of all levels, from primary to secondary schools, from high schools to technical and professional institutes, from comprehensive institutes in the province to institutions regional training courses.
The laboratories of ’68 and beyond ? Is this the program that the Study Center has been bringing to classrooms for over 21 years? they took place in multiple ways (dialogue lessons, workshops on the Constitution and citizenship education, guided tours of the city, role-playing games) and addressed many themes, from the rights movements of the 1960s and 1970s to the history of Parma, from gender issues to reflections on current issues such as the climate crisis, racism, migratory flows, wars in the Middle East.
The historical in-depth study that teachers and classes request from the Study Center every year, in fact, aims to encourage students to critically reflect on issues that are mostly firmly linked to the problems of current society. For this reason the workshops are always designed and structured as active dialogues, exchanges of reflections and knowledge, and never as frontal lessons. And perhaps also for this reason, in recent years, professional training institutes and centers such as Enaip and Forma futuro have been added to traditional schools such as high schools or lower secondary schools.
Satisfied with the results, all we have to do is get to work to plan and propose the workshops for next year.
