Marco Paoloni falls for it again: a double disqualification arrives for the former Benevento player

There is no peace for Marco Paolonithe former goalkeeper of Benevento, already involved in the investigation into football betting launched in the summer of 2011, when the Giallorossi team was involved in the Serie C play-offs against Juventus Stabia.

The arrest, the five-year disqualification with proposed disbarment, then another eight years of waiting for the acquittal which arrived in March 2019 regarding the affair of the sleeping pill administered to the team’s teammates Cremonese to lose the match against the Paganese.

After the pardon granted to him by the FIGC in 2021, he was back on the pitch, but it didn’t take him long to run into new trouble with the law, always linked to money issues. Even though he did not have a regular registration in the Agents’ Register, Paoloni offered young footballers tryouts with other clubs, asked them to sign the mandate and demanded the payment of sums of money.

For this reason, has recently received three convictions from the national federal court: the first came on 8 June 2023, when Paoloni was banned for five months for “violation of the principles of loyalty, correctness and probity”, as well as the obligation to comply with the rules referred to in art. 4 paragraph 1 of the Sports Justice Code, a disqualification already served; he is serving a second six-month sentence, which arrived last April 15 for the same violations, albeit resulting in different episodes; subsequently he will have to serve a third one, which arrived on June 18th and in this case the ban imposed on him is one yearwhich will start from the end of the previous disqualification.

Disciplinary proceedings were born following reports from the parents of some minors that they asked “clarifications regarding the actions of the footballer Paoloni, an alleged pseudo agent without the necessary qualification” regarding a mandate contract prepared by the former Cremonese and Benevento goalkeeper.
The investigations carried out revealed that Paoloni was asking for sums of money to have young footballers carry out trials at professional clubs who were unaware of everything. In some cases, he also organized private training sessions, proposing that at the end of them they sign a mandate contract in his favour, in order to identify companies interested in signing up the boys. On another occasion he had two young goalkeepers carry out training by asking the father of the two boys first “the payment of 160 euros for the rental of the pitch and for insurance” and then to sign a mandate for both children against the payment of the total sum of 500 euros, while in the latest violation that he is accused of, it emerged that Paoloni contacted the father of a minor for an alleged interest from Fiorentina and the cost of a private agreement that was never actually signed is reimbursed.

In these three trials Paoloni never appeared nor appointed a defender: in total he received a ban of two years and one month which he will finish serving in October 2025.
