BARI – «The memory of the sea» is the inspiring theme of the fourth edition of «Lungomare di libri» which, from Friday 5 to Sunday 7 July, will transform Bari into a large open-air bookshop. The coast-sea route, from the Muraglia to Largo Vito Maurogiovanni, from the Fortino Sant’Antonio to Piazza del Ferrarese, from the Fish Market to the Spazio Murat, will be animated by local booksellers and publishers. The event is promoted by the Municipality of Bari and the Book Presidia, with the support of the Puglia Region, organized by the Turin International Book Fair, together with the booksellers of Bari and the province, the Apulian publishing houses with the organization of the Pugliese Editori Association.

Master classes, editorial presentations of novels and essays, readings, moments of study, activities for children will alternate over the course of three days in Bari, from the afternoon to late evening. The Master classes, which will have the sea at their center, are entrusted to three significant voices: Annalisa Camilli, journalist and writer, with the lesson dedicated to the current events and tragedy of migration «Why shipwrecks are no longer news?» (July 7); Björn Larsson, writer (published in Italy by Iperborea), who intervenes on the sea as literary inspiration in the meeting «The sea and sea literature between myth and reality» (July 5); Silvio Perrella, writer and literary critic, who presents «The news of the sea». Among the other expected guests: Emanuele Aldovrandi, author of the novel Our big nothing (Einaudi), July 5; Saba Anglana, singer-songwriter, with her debut book Mrs. Wonder (Sellerio), 6 July; Luca Bizzarri, comedian of the duo Luca and Paolo, with the book They don’t have a friend (Mondadori), 6 July; the young writer, poet and musician Elvio Carrieri, with his first novel Poor us (Ventanas), July 5; Cristina Cassar Scalia with The Chestnut Tree of One Hundred Horses (Einaudi), 7 July; Filippo Ceccarelli, journalist, who presents the A life too long (Feltrinelli), on thirty years of Berlusconism (7 July); Gabriella Genisi with RPGs (Marsilio), Francesco Carofiglio, author of the novel The beautiful season (Garzanti) on July 6; the illustrator Vittoria Facchini with the children’s workshop «Mare Matto» (July 7); the writer Lorenza Gentile with her new novel All the beauty that awaits us (Feltrinelli) set in Puglia (7 July); the author Marcello Introna with the book Gold fork flames (Mondadori), set in Bari at the end of the seventeenth century (5 July); the writer Andrea Piva with The Eternal Girl (Bompiani), novel proposed by Nicola Lagioia for the 2024 Strega Prize (5 July); Alessandro Vanoli, historian, now in bookstores with The invention of the West published by Laterza (7 July); Antonella Viola with the new book The Time of the Body. The Sun, Sleep and the Rhythm of Life (Feltrinelli), 6 July; the memory of the local author and poet Vito Maurogiovanni, who passed away in 2009, with Castles of PugliaJuly 6th.

Also scheduled, at the «Lungomare di Libri», at the Civic Museum, is the exhibition of the illustrator Armin Greder with the tables of books Isola e Mediterranean (published by Orecchio Acerbo), which will be inaugurated on July 5 with a lecture by Professor Simone Di Biasio of the University of Roma Tre. The exhibition will be open until July 14. Then, the camper «Ticket to Read» will return from the Turin Book Fair. Guests in the evenings will be singer-songwriters Ashes (July 5) and Chiara Cami (July 6), founders of the singer-songwriter writing format «Treseizero».
