A welcome return to the Granata home. Hdl Nardò Basket, in fact, announces the arrival of Elhadji Thioune, Senegalese center with Italian training, born in 2001 (born on 14 July), 209 cm. and 105 kg., already in Nardò in the 2021/2022 A2 championship. Arriving in April 2022, Thioune played the last two regular season games, in addition to the “clock” phase and the playout matches with Capo d’Orlando for a total of 10 appearances and 4.6 points on average. Coach Dalmonte will ask the long native of Dakar for physicality in the paint, but also a contribution in terms of mobility and versatility. A reinforcement in the forward package of the 2024/2025 roster, who brings points and rebounds and who, from a personal point of view, will be able to continue his growth path by working every day alongside a veteran like captain Iannuzzi, a colleague in the department.

“I am very happy with the call from the club and coach Dalmonte – Elhadji Thioune says – it is always a pleasure to return to Nardò, where I had a great time two years ago. For the next season I will do my best, everything that will be necessary to give a hand to the team. It will be a season of growth, also from a personal point of view”.

Thioune started very young in Senegal, before arriving in Brescia in 2016 and playing in the youth championships with Leonessa Basket. In 2019 he made his debut in C with Virtus Brescia and the following year he entered the A2 stage with the Stella Azzurra Roma jersey. His growth then continued in Fabriano and then in Nardò. The subsequent experiences are in Mantua and Chieti, always in A2, and last year first in Taranto and then in Roseto in Serie B.

“We are partnering Iannuzzi – explains sports director Matteo Malaventura – with a young boy, with an important size, who with his great desire to improve will contribute to increasing the value of the team”.
“I am satisfied and motivated by the signing of Elhadji – highlights coach Luca Dalmonte – satisfied because his athleticism offers us an alternative to Iannuzzi, motivated to support him and accompany him in his personal growth. Very good”.
