BUSTO ARSIZIO – There will be more than 100 Paralympic athletes at the start of the first edition of the Tre Valli Varesine Handbike scheduled for Saturday 22 June on a 4.5 kilometer ring located in the city centre. The affected roads will be closed from 2.45pm. Some of the greatest athletes of the Italian para-cycling movement will be present at the event: the world champion and European handbike champion Roberta Amedeothe handbike world champion Mirko Testathe Italian handbike champion Alessandro D’Onofrioit’s still Vito Lascaropink jersey at the Giro d’Italia 2023 and the president of Polha Varese handbike Marco Re Calegari.
The race
The Tre Valli Varesine Handbike is a para-cycling event organized, in close collaboration with the municipal administration, by Alfredo Binda cycling club, a local sporting reality that promotes the classic race for professionals and the Tre Valli Varesine Women’s Race which have been starting in Busto Arsizio for a few years. In this case Busto will not just be the starting point of the competition, but will serve as the backdrop to the competition, which will award the Municipality of Busto Arsizio Trophy – e-work Grand Prixas part of the national competition “Italian cup test 2024”, handbike, tricycle and under 14 categories.
The circuit
Appointment for first departure at 3.30pm from the Textile Museum. Over 100 Paralympic athletes from the under 14 category onwards will compete on a 4.5 km circular route, which will affect the streets and squares of Volta, Zappellini, Cristoforo Colombo, F.lli d’Italia, Garibaldi, Crespi, Trento and Trieste, Mazzini, Dante Alighieri, Plebiscito, dei Mille, Magenta, Pellico, Rimembranze, Assisi, Manzoni and San Michele. The village where all the competition activities and awards ceremonies will take place will be set up in the Square Garden of the Textile Museum. The program includes the meeting and delivery of the race numbers at 1pm, the test of the route from 2.45pm and the departures of the two races at 3.30 pm (categories MH3, MH4, MH5, OPEN, UNDER 14) and at 5pm (categories MH1, MH2, HW ALL, TRICYCLES M/F). Awards ceremony at 7pm in the Square Garden.
Changes to traffic
On the occasion of the event, the following traffic measures are established for all vehicles on 22 June 2024 in the time slot from 11am to 7pm on no transit and no parking with forced removal on both sides of the sections of road affected by the transit of the race and in particular in the following streets and squares: Galvani, Zappellini, F.lli d’Italia, Assisi, Palestro (tract from Via Assisi to Piazza Manzoni), Manzoni (from Palestro to Confalonieri ), Mille, Trento Trieste, Mazzini (tract from via Foscolo to via Dante) and Dante in the time slot from 12 to 19, with the consequent mandatory directions; The parking ban with forced removal except authorized (flagships following the races) in via Galvani and in the rest area located at the Isonzo/Galvani intersection, between 8am and 8pm; there suspension of road traffic in the time slot from 12.30 to 19, along the stretches of road affected by the competition referred to in the object and more precisely in the following squares, streets and avenues: Volta c/o Textile Museum (meeting/departure) – Colombo – Zappellini F. lli of Italy – Garibaldi – Crespi – Trento Trieste – Mazzini (from Foscolo to Dante) – Dante (from Mazzini to Mille) – Plebiscite – Thousand – Magenta (from Mille to Pellico) – Pellico – Remembrances (from Pellico to Assisi) – Assisi – Palestro (from Assisi to Manzoni) – Manzoni (from Palestro to San Michele) – San Michele – Volta for two laps and for the duration strictly necessary for the race to take place; the obligation for all vehicles coming from areas or roads that intersect or enter the one affected by the transit of competitors to stop before engaging it, respecting the manual or light signals of the bodies in charge of surveillance; The pedestrians are also prohibited from crossing the route during the transit of the competitors. To participate in the event and to reach the center we recommend using the car parks in via Alberto da Giussano and via Monti, accessing from viale Duca D’Aosta/Cadorna.
