Less noise and pollution, more social equity and safety on the roads. The engines are warming up for the European Mobility Week 2024 which this year chooses the theme of “Shared public space”, a place where people, modes of transport and activities have their own space characterized by more social equity, more road safety , less noise and air pollution and a better quality of life. This theme which, in addition to acting as a common thread for the initiatives that the associations involved in sustainable and scholastic mobility will propose to the Municipality for the definition of the calendar of events, invites institutions and citizens to collectively decide on how to share public space and in What a way to ensure that everyone, especially pedestrians and cyclists, can move around safely.

The Municipality of Cesena, in view of the last day of the event set for Saturday 21 September 2024 at the Hippodrome parking lot, launches a call to action inviting the various local entities involved in sustainable mobility (associations, public and private bodies, companies, firms and professionals who in various capacities deal with sustainable mobility) to present proposals to enrich that space, normally used as a car park, with stands and workshop and/or promotional activities to tell and share your commitment.

The initiative also takes part in the “Parkingday” promoted by FIAB, an annual event proposed with the aim of temporarily converting areas occupied by car parks into public social spaces.

Ideas to propose

Requests can be sent by completing the dedicated Google form by 14 August 2024. The Municipality will make free spaces available in the Hippodrome parking area, while the organization of any stands and various activities and initiatives will be up to borne by the proponent.

Like every year, the European Mobility Week will constitute, for citizens and local administrations, an opportunity and an indispensable showcase to activate themselves in a necessary, indispensable and now underway process of improving urban mobility in the direction of united environmental sustainability to local economic growth and the quality of life in cities.
