Coldiretti Veneto Assembly in Treviso. 700 crowd the Mario del Monaco theatre

TREVISO – “We need to put the agri-food chain back at the center without demonizing farmers. Enough with regulations such as the one on packaging or the one on the reduction of agrochemicals, because the first to want to reduce them are agricultural entrepreneurs. Brussels cannot be a place where policies in favor of a few multinationals seeking to globalize the agri-food production system are supported. Europe must protect the value of the Dop Economy and all the typical productions which are the ambassadors of our country in the world. We also need better use of CAP resources, we are investing little in agricultural innovation and production chains. These issues are delegated to be financed by individual states, but this is a serious mistake: Italy, with its public debt, will hardly be able to encourage these investments on its own. In general, we need a change of pace from the idea that Europe should be a green garden, only to then import products from countries that do not respect the same rules that we respect. Delocalisation is not a solution to the problem of the environment and climate, which cannot concern just one continent but must concern them all”.

As Ettore Prandini, president of Coldiretti, addressed the over 700 members from all the provinces who crowded the Mario del Monaco Theater in Treviso for the regional assembly. In the audience all the managers with the representatives of the seniors, young people, women with the provincial directors and the regional Marina Montedoro.

An appointment welcomed by the Mayor Mario Conte who thanked Coldiretti Veneto for choosing the Treviso area and a place of culture of work and territory as a venue for discussion. From the mayor, also in his capacity as president of Anci Veneto, the invitation to keep the flag of quality and health of citizens high.

After the introduction to the proceedings by the regional president Carlo Salvan who traced the path traveled in the area made up of meetings with the base to plan trade union actions to defend agricultural income and professionalism, the guests on stage, Alessandro Apolito of the Confederal Area for Supply Chain Policies and Luigi Scordamaglia CEO of Filiera Italia , addressed the key topics for the primary sector: the defense of Made in Italy agri-food with the proposed European law on the mandatory labeling of all products supported by the collection of one million #nofakeinitaly signatures, together with the request for the abolition of the customs code to put a stop to unfair trade practices.

Not least the age-old problem of wildlife for which Coldiretti continues to fight throughout Italy to obtain the necessary answers from the institutions. The management and containment of the population of wild boars, nutria, deer and crows is an urgent priority that requires concrete and immediate actions.

Among the most anticipated events, the Coldiretti Village in Venice, which will bring hundreds of Campagna Amica farms under the spotlight in the large and unprecedented market overlooking the lagoon between Riva dei Sette Martiri and the Napoleonic Gardens with the best of peasant cuisine and street food, tastings, agri-kindergarten, educational workshops and numerous related events.
