first home game on 15 September

Como fans will not miss a single home match in Serie A. After two days of meetings and summits on the future of the stadium, there is a climate of renewed optimism. Which bases its reasons on two aspects that could prove crucial. The first: the possibility (more and more concrete) that the Lega Serie A could allow Como to play the first three matches of the season away. We will know, formally, only on July 4th when the championships will be drawn. But, also thanks to a precedent in this sense, the hope of obtaining the exemption is much more than a simple opportunity.

If this were the case, Como would take advantage of the stoppage for the Italian national team’s match on the weekend of 7 and 8 September to open the doors of Sinigaglia to their fans on 15 September, for the first home match.

The second aspect concerns the climate that prevailed both on Tuesday, on the occasion of the prefectural commission for public entertainment, and yesterday when a summit was held between the prefect Andrea Polichetti, the police commissioner Marco Calì, the mayor Alessandro Rapinese, Fabrizio Bottacin for Como, and then firefighters, local police to evaluate the aspects of public order and safety. A climate of great collaboration even if, as the prefect himself, Andrea Polichetti, pointed out during the meeting, optimism will turn into results “if everyone does their part”.

So far the optimism. Be careful, though, because there is a lot of work to do and it’s a lot. Let’s start with the expansion of seating, which will have to rise to 10 thousand. The prefectural commission, the day before yesterday, did not grant any type of usability not only because the works have not yet been done (by the way: the construction site can start very soon, because the projects have all received the OK from the parties involved ), but above all because essential documents are missing. In detail: send the technical report of the wind protection loads; the structural project for the Sky platform is missing; Above all, static tests of curves and distincts are missing; some documents are missing (but that’s the least) about the bar point project which will be opened (now it’s official) in the distinct sector.

As was pointed out during the Commission, the collection of those documents is not a banal bureaucratic matter: behind those certifications there is a security check for the suitability of the structure. Indispensable to allow the Lega Seria A to give the OK to play the matches at Sinigaglia.

There is also a lot of work to be done on the public order front. One of the main topics of the meeting held yesterday afternoon concerned the video surveillance system: not only the one inside the stadium (some cameras need to be changed and those in the turnstile areas need to be added) and those around the Sinigaglia, but also – and above all – the cameras to be placed along the entire route from the Lazzago guest car park to the stadium.

The Municipality was given the task of setting up a system – connected with the Police Headquarters – to monitor the rest area in the North parking area of Grandate and then the roads traveled by buses. In short, there’s something to roll up your sleeves for. September 15th seems far away, but it’s just around the corner: just three months away.
