Three new ones Renewable Energy Communities are emerging in the provincial territory of Bologna, with the aim of producing and sharing green energy, with economic, social and environmental benefits for their members.
3 inclusive projects
A first project, large and now at an advanced stage, concerns the WeVèz cooperative: it is the first Renewable Energy Community registered in the specific register of the Emilia-Romagna Region and the first body to have completed the reporting of the first regional tender in support of CER . According to what is reported in the development plan, by 2026 the cooperative will build, in various primary substations in the provincial territory, Energy Community configuration systems for more than 4 Mega of total power. The first plant will come into operation in Saint Lazarus of Savena.
A second Renewable Energy Community is being created in Valsamoggia: since June the promoting committee of CER Valsamoggia– which received the contribution of the Emilia-Romagna Region – will form a cooperative.
Finally, a third Energy Community project will start in Baricella, where the promoting committee was born CER Terre di Pianura.
Legacoop Bologna’s support for Renewable Energy Communities
The three projects were supported by Legacoop Bologna regarding the different development steps of the initiative and access to funding. The Communities were established with the legal form of cooperatives.
The choice of the cooperative form shows a commitment on the part of the three CERs in the planning and implementation of new development models, which bring together sustainability and the needs of people and the community, fpromoting decarbonisation.
Furthermore, the three Renewable Energy Communities have among their goals one inclusive, fair and democratic energy transitionrespect for the environment, the reduction of climate-changing emissions, the fight against energy poverty, in accordance with the sustainable development objectives promoted by the UN within the 2030 Agenda.
