The event starts on Friday 5th July summer programming of the evening events on the magnificent Terrace of the National Archaeological Museum of Reggio Calabria. The museum’s opening hours will be extended until 11:00 p.m. (with last admission at 10:30 p.m.). From 8:00 p.m. the ticket will cost only 3 euros and will allow you to visit the exhibition spaces and participate in the proposed activities. Throughout the month of July and August, every Friday, a calendar of events created in synergy with local institutions and associations, which will bring music, cultural insights, astronomy, theater and food and wine to the panoramic terrace of the MArRC.

We’re leaving on July 5th at 8.45pm with the Talk “DiVino – Wine between archaeology, traditional practices and modernity” curated by the Chamber of Commerce of Reggio Calabria. A journey into the “culture of wine” as a vehicle for knowledge, cultural exchanges, traditional practices and rites, and transformation of the territory. A dialogue between wine and archaeology that, thanks to the use of new technologies in production and sensory activities related to use and consumption, has now been enriched with multiple facets and opportunities.

During the talk, institutional greetings are planned from the director of the MArRC Fabrizio Sudano, speeches by Antonino Tramontana, president of the Chamber of Commerce of Reggio Calabria, Maria Maddalena Sica, archaeologist, Vincenzo Vozzo and Alberta Nesci, Consortium “Terre di Reggio Calabria”, Adele Lavorata, Consortium “Protection and Promotion of the Vines and DOC Wine of Bivongi”. The evening on the splendid terrace of the MArRC ends with a wine tasting with the participation of the sommeliers of ONAV Reggio Calabria and FISAR Reggio Calabria. Access to the terrace is permitted to a maximum of 90 participantswithout reservation, until seats are filled.

On the afternoon of July 5, at 5:30 pm in the conference room, the meeting entitled “A treasure in Taverna: the works of the Calabrian painter Mattia Preti” promoted by the International Writers Center of Calabria. New this year, in fact, is the afternoon opening of the conference room to the initiatives of cultural associations in collaboration with the MArRC also during the summer. On Wednesdays and Fridays, even in the months of July and August, it will be possible to participate in cultural insights, conferences, seminars and meetings thanks to the industrious activity of the cultural realities of the Reggio area.

On Friday afternoon, after the institutional greetings of the director Sudano, and of Loreley Rosita Borruto, president of the CIS of Calabria, Prof. Francesca Paolino of the Mediterranean University of Reggio Calabria, with a video projection, will report on the works of the Calabrian painter Mattia Preti.

The service has been active since July 1st new tariff plan of the MArRC, available on the museum’s official website, at https://www.museoarcheologicoreggiocalabria.it/nuove-tariffe-2024/. The MArRC is open from Tuesday to Sunday non-stop from 9:00 to 20:00, with last admission at 19:30. On Mondays the museum is closed to the public.
