Dialysis services for tourists on holiday are already operational in northern Sardinia. The Sassari Local Health Authority’s ‘Dialysis holidays’ project started on 10 June and will remain active until 30 September, three times a week, in the specialized centers of Alghero, Porto Torres and Sassari. Over three hundred dialysis sessions dedicated to tourists will be performed, in addition to the over 31,200 permanent dialysis patients, those residents who are followed by healthcare workers throughout the year. The purpose of dialysis is not only to extend life, but also to improve its quality: the effectiveness of the therapy is also measured on the possibility for the patient to lead an almost normal life and therefore to be able to travel and go on holidays. To access the service, organized by doctor Giovanna Pisanu, simply send an email to [email protected], specifying in the subject the chosen dialysis centre, Alghero, Porto Torres or Sassari (San Camillo) and in the body of the email the dates on which you wish to carry out dialysis, as well as a telephone contact.
