The Artillery Festival was celebrated today, June 15, at the Parco degli Artiglieri, coinciding precisely with the “Battle of the Solstice” of 1918. The event of the Battle of the Piave contributed strongly to Italy’s final victory over the Austro-Hungarian army on the following 4 November and thanks to the Italian artillery which covered itself in glory for its efficiency and determination.

“At the ceremony, organized by the Ravenna provincial section of ANArt.I., an association of artillerymen, with its president Ten.Col. Francesco Porciello was attended by civil and military authorities, Dr. Nazareno De Franco representing the Prefect of Ravenna, the vice mayor Eugenio Fusignani, the Regional Delegate of the An:Art.I. Col. Massimo Pinchi, the Banner of the city of Ravenna VOVM, the Nastro Azzurro medal collection, the banners of the sections of Rimini, Zocca, Colorno, and many banners of Combat and Weapons Associations who did not want to miss the annual ceremony” they explain by the provincial section of Ravenna of ANArt.I.

“There is a large presence of artillerymen of every specialty, especially the anti-aircraft one who is rooted in Ravenna due to having carried out their service in the “D.Alighieri” barracks, home of anti-aircraft artillery regiments for many years – they conclude –. After the raising of the flag with the National Anthem, the laying of the Laurel Wreath at the War Memorial and the reading of the Artillery Prayer, a short speech by the President of the Ravenna Section, and the intervention by the participating Authorities”.
