CROTONE The mayor of Crotone, Vincenzo Voceissued a statement last June 13thtemporary ban on bathing along the stretches of beach called “Lido Tricoli” and “Di fronte Cimitero”.

«Having seen the note from theArpacal (Provincial Department of Crotone) – we read in the ordinance – received the General Protocol on 13 June 2024, number 56180, with which it communicates that from the analyzes carried out on samples of sea water taken on 12 June 2024, a unfavorable outcome for the microbiological parameters “Escherichia coli” and “Intestinal enterococci”.
The measure also follows the reporting of two sewage spills that occurred, for the first time, last June 8th, on thebeach of Viale Gramsci in Crotone. The report had come from some residents of the area who had contacted the municipal councilor Enrico Pedace who, in turn, immediately alerted the port authorities and provided the consequent communication toMunicipal administration. However, the reporting phenomena by swimmers continued during the week.
Following the analyzes carried out by Arpacal last Wednesday, the decision was made to impose a bathing ban due to the concentration of bacteria in sea water which will remain in force until further communications from the Regional Environment Agency regarding the healthiness of city waters.
