The tour of “The Emergency Society” between Reggio Calabria and Rosarno starts on June 26th

The first appointment with Francesco Fantuzzi and the presentation in the metropolitan area of his essay “The emergency society – Pandemic, war, insecurity, chaos” is set for June 26th at 6 pm, at the Spazio Open in Via dei Filippini 25. : what future awaits us?”.

After having toured half of Italy for the numerous meetings organized in bookshops, committees and associations, the author will dialogue with the Reggio public in three events, promoted by Med Media Comunicazioni Integrate.

The next commitments will be on 27 June in Rosarno, in the Casa del Popolo “Giuseppe Valarioti”, and on 28 June in Pellaro, in the Knowledge and Wellbeing Park of the Ace Solidarity Medicine Centre.

Published by Sensibili alle leaves – like the previous volume “Dentro la zona rossa. The virus, time, power”, of which it constitutes the development and in-depth analysis – “The emergency society” traces a lucid analysis of the ongoing political, economic, health, environmental and cultural crisis, retracing the historical events and social groups that determined it.

In the second part, the study elaborates an alternative way to the drift that is leading man to drown in the deluge of information and in the artificial and extreme space of social media and thus to lose contact with others, seeing freedom and spirit eroded at the same time critic.

For Fantuzzi, “we live in an emergency society: real, presumed, artfully created and fueled emergencies. A plan suitable for managing a situation that is certainly complex and convoluted, but extremely functional for a power system in trouble, which thus finds its recognition and a new and unexpected lifeblood”.

Francesco Fantuzzi – economic studies, with a past as a bank official and today advisor and trainer of the Mag 6 Cooperative in Reggio Emilia, has spent the last few years examining the theses of great sociologists and intertwining them with his reasoning, with the important experience acquired in the world of mutual and solidarity finance and with militant commitment to the environment and common goods.

The cornerstone of his vision is, certainly, the thought of Professor Serge Latouche, French economist and philosopher, the theorist of degrowth and the most radical thinker of the limits of development and the Westernization of the world.

After reading the first essay by Francesco Fantuzzi with the historian Franco Motta, “Inside the red zone”, Serge Latouche wrote to the two authors that their study “truly constitutes an important work, totally consistent with the project of degrowth as the construction of a society of growthless prosperity or frugal abundance.”

Just as, after six years in the bank, Francesco Fantuzzi decided to leave that job to give credit and support to projects of a social nature that hardly find attention and financing in traditional circuits, in his life path he has also transformed the battles for environment, public water and the liveability of city spaces in political commitment by running for mayor of Reggio Emilia with a civic list.

A civil passion fueled by constant dialogue with citizens and now with the readers of his essays.

Welcoming him in the Open Space, on top of the treadmill, will be the publisher Francesco Arcidiaco and the journalist and Legambiente activist Oriana Schembari.
