Work will begin on Monday 17 June for the construction of the new cycle/pedestrian path along Via Basilio Dalla Scola. The work, whose cost of 350,000 euros is financed by the Pnrr, will allow the creation of a safe connection for cyclists and pedestrians between Strada di Bertesina and the center of the San Pio
«With this new work we are going to make a very busy road like Via Dalla Scola safe – he comments Cristiano Spiller, councilor for public works and mobility -. The first stretch of cycle path will be built from scratch, in the most dangerous point for pedestrians and cyclists, as it is located along a curve and currently has no track or sidewalk. Furthermore, the nearby Bertesina road represents one of the cornerstones of Vicenza’s cycling and with this new stretch of cycle/pedestrian path we will create a connection towards San Pio X and Viale della Pace. Once the work is completed, it will be possible for pedestrians walking along Strada di Bertesina to reach San Pio X on foot in complete safety. An important job, therefore, made possible thanks to a Pnrr loan obtained from the Municipality.”
A section of the new runway, 300 meters long, will be built on site from Strada di Bertesina to the “Cooperativa Insieme”. Another stretch, towards the San Pio meters. It is also planned to create a new pedestrian crossing near the intersection with via Dalla Robbia and the redevelopment, with the removal of architectural barriers, of the local public transport stops near the “Cooperativa Insieme” and the prison, to create new raised boarding and alighting platforms compliant with regulations for disabled people.
The expected duration of the construction site, managed by the mobility, transport and infrastructure sector of the Municipality of Vicenza, is expected to be 160 days, with completion in autumn 2024.
