Tuscany Pride 2024 in Lucca on 7 September

Tuscany Pride 2024 will be held on September 7th in Lucca. This is the date announced today by the organizers who revealed the host city a month ago. For the first time the event will be held in September and not in June, as usual.

The claim of the 2024 edition is «Indomitə e Fierə» which, it is explained, «takes inspiration from the symbol of the city of Lucca, namely the panther».

«The Tuscan queer community – we read in the note released by the organizers – is ready to take to the streets to denounce the state’s homolesbobistransaphobia and the institutional violence of the Meloni government which showed its true familial, sovereignist, racist and ableist face. A government that uses the bodies of women and LGBTQIA+* people as an ideological battleground to gain consensus represses dissent by force and undermines the foundations of our democracy. We are building an even more intersectional Pride that will speak with the voices of all people marginalized as LGBTQIA*+, racialized or migrant, disabled, fat, precarious and unemployed. Toscana Pride takes a stand against the genocidal massacre that is taking place in Gaza, in support of the Palestinian people, for the self-determination of peoples and for an immediate ceasefire.”

«We will ask the citizens – declares the spokesperson of Toscana Pride Monia Marcacci – to join us in the fight to obtain a law against discrimination based on sexual orientation and gender identity and against misogyny and ableism, the recognition of daughters and sons of same-sex families, a law on adoptions also for singles and couples of the same gender, a new law for the right to self-determination of trans* and non-binary people, a law that prohibits reparative therapies.”
