Dante, Theodora, Justinian and the monuments of Ravenna in the new floor mural in the Darsena promenade

Dante Alighieri, Theodora, Justinian, together with historical monuments such as Dante’s tomb, Theodoric’s mausoleum and the basilica of San Vitale: these are the elements recalled in the large floor mural “The history of Ravenna illustrated by Riccardo Guasco” created in recent days in Darsena, in via Cavalcoli, next to the canal promenade, between via Zara and viale Bosi Maramotti.

The work is by Riccardo Guascointernationally renowned illustrator, painter and graphic designer, also known by his pseudonym Rickfamous for his style that blends cubism, futurism and comics, under the artistic direction of Marco Miccoli di Bonobolabo, promoter of the Subsidenze Festival. Each element is stylized according to Guasco’s unique aesthetic, creating a harmonious whole that pays homage to Ravenna’s rich cultural heritage. Local artists created the work Luogo Comune, Alessandro Pixa and Yopoz.

Mayor, Michele de Pascaleand the Tourism Councilor, Giacomo Costantini, they went to the Darsena at the end of the construction of the work. “The floor mural, which is part of a neighborhood already rich in street art, offers a new stop on the tourist routes dedicated to this art – they said – not only beautifies the urban space, but represents a sort of ideal connection between the historic center and the Darsena, offering a visual tribute that intertwines past and present. The project may also expand in the future, including other monuments and characters of the city, further enriching the historical and artistic narrative of Ravenna. This, together with the very important urban regeneration projects that are coming forward, will offer an increasingly innovative and liveable neighborhood.”

The street art intervention was promoted by the municipal administration, thanks to available residues from the suburbs tender as part of the completion of the walk along the Candiano, to underline the connection of the new route that projects the city towards the sea.
