A Sanremo leaner with fewer singers competing, the distinction between young proposals and big ones and the great return of the Dopofestival. These are the first innovations of the Festival announced on Tg1 Mattina Estate by the host Carlo Conti who is busy reviewing the regulations. “First there is the regulation, then listening to the songs and finally we will decide who will accompany me on stage”, specifies the new artistic director once again.
The “small” changes to the regulations: division between young people and big names returns
We are therefore working on the regulation with small but precise changes, such as the separation of the competition between ‘young proposals’ and ‘big’ ones. A decision that marks a change compared to the last edition, when under the direction of Amadeus, the challenge between young people took place two months before the festival: the top three classified were then added to the 27 big names competing. Now this will no longer be the case and each category will have its own space and its own winner.
Fewer songs in the competition and the return of the Dopofestival
This will allow for fewer songs in the competition and the festival evenings – Conti assures – will not spill into the small hours. But beware of going to sleep too early. Yes, because the next edition of the festival marks another great return: the Dopofestival, the appointment for enthusiasts to delve deeper and discuss the evening’s performances.
According to increasingly insistent rumours, the leadership of the Dopofestival could be entrusted to Alessandro Cattelan, who would also be in the running for an evening as co-host. The festival team, however, is still to be defined. Conti doesn’t come clean but categorically excludes the presence of his historic Tuscan friends Giorgio Panariello and Leonardo Pieraccioni: “It would be banal. Maybe they’ll call me”, jokes the host who reveals his secret wish: “It would be a dream to open with Vasco Rossi singing ‘Alba Chiara’. Think about it”, is the appeal.
