VERONA – It’s time to step on the accelerator and start getting excited about the Eurospin Verona Run Marathon 42k/21k and Family Run on Sunday 17 November 2024. There are five months to go and preparations are underway for this edition which is currently recording significant registration numbers of participants, especially foreigners.
The event is organized by the sports association Gaac 2007 Veronamarathon ASD., with the patronage of Municipality of Verona and the collaboration of Healthy Citiesand is included in the World Athletics and Aims calendar, as well as recognized by the Italian Athletics Federation.
PATH – Confirmed it same route as 2023, with a single lapwhich was so popular that it welcomed the most highly rated marathon runners in Italy on the certified and approved FIDAL type A route (42.195km), in search of the title of Italian Marathon Champion, both Absolute and Master, a title won by parading on the unique tour of the city of Verona.
Between the speed with the relaxing kilometers on the Lungadige, then a lot of history and art with the center of Verona, a UNESCO heritage site, but also a lot of solemnity for the passage inside the G. Duca Barrackswhose representation honored the departure and arrival by singing the national anthem during the awards ceremony.
ARRIVAL AT THE ARENA – Departure in front of the Bentegodi Stadium from where the runners will move towards the north-west area of the city until crossing the Chievo Dam from which you will go in the direction of Parona, towards km 11. From here the very quick return to the Lungadige, a whole ride without curves and slightly downhill until 18km, before crossing the Adige from Ponte della Vittoria and diving into the historic center.
Marathon runners and athletes registered for the half marathon will face the first 20km togetherto conquer the historic center of the city passing among the most famous monuments of Verona such as the Basilica of Sant’Anastasia And Piazza delle Erbe with the famous Lamberti Tower. Those who tackle ‘only’ the 21,097km will go to the finish line Piazza Bra right in front of the Arenawhile the marathon runners will continue to embrace the entire city of Verona in the eastern part, also touching the Municipality of San Martino Buon Albergoto then return towards the center passing through Porta Vescovo and also arriving in Piazza Bra in front of the Arena.
CASERMA DUCA – Last year it was a novelty that achieved extraordinary success and great emotion, the passage inside the G. Duca Barracks between km 36 and 37, under the gaze of85th Volunteer Training Regiment. “We were proud to have supported the last edition of the Eurospin Verona Run Marathon and we hope to be able to participate in the next one not only with the passage to the Barracks, but also with a significant representation of our military student athletes”, the comment of Colonel Nicola Castello, Commander of the 85th «Verona» Training Regiment.
This is the thought of general director of the organization Stefano Stanzial: “The 2023 edition was a success from all points of view, including the route which received broad positive consensus from the marathon runners, they are our priority, we listen to them. Verona is still affected by important road works for the new tramway, we are so pleased to propose this route again which embraces the whole of Verona, from the Adige to the historic center up to the exciting passage inside the G. Duca Barracks. I would like to thank the Municipality of Verona, the entire body of the Municipal Police and the Commander of the Barracks, Colonel Nicola Castello, for the great work that we are all preparing to do together in the coming months to allow marathon runners who will come from all over the world to run in total safety. along 42,195km”.
REGISTRATION – Registration is open, the “Dream November” promo is active until 31 October for the combined registration for €50.00 for the Ravenna Half Marathon on 10 November 2024 and the Eurospin Verona Run Marathon 21K on 17 November 2024.
