A tragedy occurred during the night in Vittoria. A man of Tunisian origins caused a fire in his mother’s house in Piazza Trinità, attempting a family massacre. Unfortunately, the mother died due to the serious burns she suffered, her husband and younger children were seriously injured. Residents of the area reported high flames and smoke that invaded the street, sparking panic just before three in the morning. The man apparently used an improvised torch to start the fire, which quickly spread and destroyed the interior of the house.
The family tried to escape the flames, but were trapped. The firefighters and medical staff of 118 intervened promptly to rescue the victims, who were transported in serious conditions to the Ragusa and Vittoria hospital. The house suffered irreparable damage due to the strong heat, which destroyed the ceilings and false ceilings. After the incident, the police immediately started searching for the man, who was arrested in the morning. The man reportedly suffers from physical problems and in recent months there have been several arguments between his family.
