From 1 July 2024, all Coldiretti Cuneo offices in the provincial territory will be powered by clean energy produced by agricultural companies and certified by EKOenergy. It is the first concrete step of a broader project, “Agricultural energy at Km 0”, sanctioned by the agreement that Coldiretti Cuneo and ForGreen Spa Società Benefit officially signed today, 5 June, World Environment Day.

An important date that Coldiretti Cuneo has chosen to celebrate the crucial role of farmers in safeguarding the environment: “Those who produce food commit themselves daily to overseeing the territory, to protecting it from hydrogeological instability, to taking care of the landscapes, to preserving biodiversity but also , more and more often, to produce energy with zero impact for a circular and responsible economy, to the benefit of the environment” recalls the President of Coldiretti Cuneo, Enrico Nadawho explains: “By entering into a partnership with ForGreen we have bet on an ambitious project, aimed at building an innovative integrated and sustainable agricultural energy supply chain in our Province which supports both the companies that have installed photovoltaic systems and the companies that they consume energy.”

“We are happy to also be able to contribute in Cuneo to the creation of a sustainable energy sharing model thanks to the collaboration with Coldiretti. This project will allow member farms to have important economic advantages while respecting the environment and the territory” he declares Germano Zanini, CEO of ForGreen. “The expansion of the 0 km agricultural energy project to Cuneo, which started already in 2018 together with Coldiretti – continues Zanini – represents an important stage in a path of sustainability and shared energy transition in which our company has been engaged for more than 25 years. years”.

The project in the Province of Cuneo is based on a successful model that ForGreen, a leading company in the development of energy sharing models, has been carrying out since 2018 in Veneto and Puglia, where more than 1,500 agricultural companies have joined and in recent years have exchanged approximately 42 million kWh, saving the environment approximately 24,000 barrels of oil and 10,500 tons of CO2 not emitted into the atmosphere.

Given this positive experience, Coldiretti Cuneo has decided to replicate the project in our Province, investing concretely in the development of an agro-energy community and committing itself to be the first to consume exclusively clean energy produced by agricultural companies.

Farms that have installed a photovoltaic system will be able to sell the energy produced at improved conditions no longer to the GSE but to ForGreen, with which they will be able to easily relate and have simplified management of invoices and sales revenues. The energy acquired and fed into the grid by FORGreen is certified with the prestigious international non-profit ecological brand for renewable energy “EKOenergy”, which will offer a competitive advantage on the market – explains Coldiretti Cuneo – to agricultural companies that produce clean energy because it will strengthen its green reputation.

Companies or families that consume energy will be able to purchase it from ForGreen, benefiting from tariffs agreed with Coldiretti; this generates savings on energy costs, as well as greater simplicity of relationship with the energy supplier, as ForGreen manages billing and customer service internally. Without forgetting that the energy supplied by ForGreen, being from a renewable and EKOenergy certified source, guarantees companies and domestic users to reduce the environmental impact of their electricity consumption.
