Eleven fires have broken out in Sicily. Foresters and firefighters were involved in three fires in the Agrigento area, two in the Nisse area, two in the Catania area, two in the Messina area and two in the Syracuse area. The flames broke out in the Agrigento area in Caltabellotta in the Cuttunaro district, in Agrigento in the Piano Gatta district and in Cattolica Eraclea in the Piano Comune district.
In the Catania area in Caltagirone in the Coste Chiazzine district and in Licodia Eubea in the Cava San Giorgio district. In the Nisseno area in Mazzarino in the San Cono Sottano district and in Niscemi in the Ulmo district. In the Syracuse area in Noto in the Forbici district and in the Villa Vela district and finally in the Messina area in Gioiosa Marea in the Catello district, in Tortorici in the Santa Nagra district.
Fire at the Burger King in Palermo
A fire broke out in the Burger King restaurant in Viale Regione Siciliana, near the Via Belgio roundabout, in Palermo. The flames apparently broke out in the kitchens of the fast food restaurant. Several teams from the provincial fire brigade command are intervening.
Several ambulances arrived. At the moment the health workers are helping a young woman who was intoxicated by smoking. Shutdown operations are currently underway.
The firefighters managed to put out the fire that broke out at the Burger King in Viale Regione Siciliana. The flames affected the upper part of the roof of the kitchen where there are systems serving the business.
The firefighters contained the fire in that area, preventing the flames from reaching the internal rooms. The customers inside the fast food restaurant were rescued by the restaurant staff before the fire crews arrived. Six teams were involved during the operations. The shutdown operations have been completed. A team remained to verify what happened and ascertain the causes of the fire. Police officers, 118 health workers and AMG technicians, the Municipality’s subsidiary that supplies the gas, are present.
The investigations into the fire in via Piazzi
Investigations underway in Palermo into a fire that damaged a fruit and vegetable shop in via Giuseppe Piazzi in Palermo, a stone’s throw from via Dante. The firefighters intervened to put out the flames set on several cartons and rubbish found in front of the shutter of the business.
The investigations do not rule out malice
The investigations are being conducted by the police and the malicious nature of the fire has not been ruled out. The fire has been put out. The officers intervened and acquired images from the video surveillance systems in the area and listened to the owner of the shop.
Fear in Via Quinta Casa
Fear near the port of Palermo. A fire broke out in Via Quinta Casa, a side street that connects via dell’Arsenale to via dei Cantieri. The episode would have occurred between 8.30 and 9 in the morning. An apparently abandoned two-storey building was engulfed in flames. The fire broke out inside the ground floor. According to an initial reconstruction, the fire started from piles of rubbish inside the building. The causes that triggered the flames are unknown. The state police together with the firefighters are investigating the incident.
