Boat on fire, man overboard and a burn victim. New exercise in Bosa

Bosa

The test this morning at the piers in Isola Rossa

A serious fire in the engine of a boat moored at the commercial port of Bosa, with one person falling into the water after the flames started and a second person on board, burned and semi-conscious. This is the scenario of the fire drill that took place this morning on the concession piers located in Isola Rossa.

The simulation was coordinated by the Coast Guard of Bosa, led by the commander lieutenant of the vessel Alessandra Gabrini, and saw the involvement of the provincial command of the fire brigade of Nuoro of the Red Cross of Bosa, the local police and the concessionaire, who put piers available.

The exercise is part of the periodic activities that the maritime authority has the task of planning, at least twice a year, to test the efficiency of the planned intervention procedures, always keeping the list of available human and material resources updated , and guaranteeing the training standards necessary to deal with emergencies.

The rescue machine was activated following a report from the concessionaire, who informed the operations room of the Maritime District Office of Bosa via telephone. The CP 835 patrol boat intervened promptly, immediately recovering the injured person and the person at sea, who were then entrusted to the care of the Red Cross, on site with an ambulance and a water ambulance, with Opsa personnel.

Even before the arrival of the firefighters, the Coast Guard patrol boat and the dealership were activated to contain the fire. The local police were also alerted and regulated traffic to allow emergency vehicles to intervene safely.

At the end of the simulation, Commander Gabrini took stock of the situation and thanked all those who participated and contributed to the success of the test, the outcome of which was considered adequate with respect to the new plans and emergency protocols in force.

The exercise was carried out on the basis of the Fire Monograph of the port of Bosa, drawn up in March 2022 by the Maritime District Office.
