VARESE – Goodbye to Luigi Grossi, the partisan “Cin”, witness of the Resistance and for many years protagonist of the memory of that era in schools throughout the province of Varese. Born in AronaGrossi passed away in his home of Sant’Ambrogio in Varese.

He spoke to young people

At just 17 years old he was a protagonist with the “Beltrami” Alpine Brigade. He also wrote a book, “People of Malaren”, with his memories and his testimony, brought to many children and young people during the years of his activity alongside the Anpi. For years the partisan Cin acted as a witness in the schools of the province of Varese, meeting hundreds of students and telling them what the Resistance meant in Italy during the Second World War.

Greetings from Anpi Provinciale Varese

«Honorary President of the Varese provincial Anpi, born in 1926, in his long life he had a mission: to talk to young people about his experience when he had chosen a side at a very young age. On the side of freedom, democracy and against the fascist dictatorship that existed at that time. He told about the sabotage of the electrical cabins, of his cousin murdered in Ossola whose name is written on the monument in Fondo Toce. His voice was filled with emotion when he spoke of the tragedy at the Hotel Meina which he knew very well and also knew the protagonists. At meetings with young students, he brought with him two stones, they were those from the Hotel Meina. Hello Cin, say hello to all the partisans up there, you will definitely have a special place next to them”, this is the memory of Ester De Tomasi, president of the Varese provincial Anpi
